Tips

- Water lawns late night or early morning to help prevent fungal diseases.
- Mow fine fescue lawns at a height of 2 1/2" to 3" and hybrid Bermuda at 3/4" to 1 1/2". Never remove more than 1/3 of the growth at a time. Maintain a sharp mower blade.
- If you failed to prune azaleas and camellias shortly after blooming, wait until next year. The next year’s bloom buds will begin forming soon. You can do selective pruning of weak, dead, or crossing limbs at any time.
- It is time to replace pansies with warm season plants.
- Choose plants that do well with the amount of sunlight the planting bed will receive.
- Prepare planting beds by digging the soil at least 6" and working in a generous amount of premium planting mix, and/or forest floor product.
